• Teach each student to accurately and thoroughly read music and to provide a basic understanding of all the most common musical terms.

Mastery at the piano (or any instrument) is so much more than learning to play the right notes at the right time.  Music is about expressing and sharing human emotions and feelings. Students work toward a comprehensive understanding of music which enables them to play the piano with utmost enjoyment and musicality.  Along with foundational repertoire, the student's curriculum is tailored to the student's interests and goals.   

I believe in the benefits of music study for all individuals, regardless of age and ability. Parents are encouraged to be actively supportive and involved in their student's musical education. Technology and other "off bench" activities are used to enhance full understanding of rhythm, ear training, improvisation, and composition. Although there may be times when students would rather engage in play activities instead of practicing, my students generally find great satisfaction and enjoyment in studying the piano and developing their musical abilities.  An overall emphasis on artistry and creativity is a wonderful motivator for students in their musical journeys.
